Facebook Privacy!

In this growing technological society everyone seems to be more and more worried about privacy. most people post information on Facebook as if only your friends will see it. well, that is just not the case. From the video case on Facebook privacy i have learned and confirmed my past knowledge on the topic. This blog post should serve as a P.S.A. to all of you reading this. EVERYTHING you post to Facebook is being shared with other companies. if you like a page marketing companies will use that interest to market similar products to you. In order to "opt-out" of this information sharing program you need to go to your Facebook and select "account", chose "privacy settings", choose "applications and websites", choose "instant personalization", click "edit settings", uncheck "allow selected partners..". doing this will not allow Facebook to share your personal information with these "partners". This statement from an article goes to show that facebook is not the crown jewel of privacy, and that you need to be careful about what you post. "The FTC charged Facebook with eight counts of violating its users' privacy that constituted "unfair and deceptive" behavior. The agency has rarely alleged "unfairness" in privacy-enforcement actions." (Shayndi Raice; Angwin, Julia)
